Lisa Dixon

A full-time volunteer who serves as the Program Coordinator oversees and administrates the Burfoot House Program for ten homeless single women. The CEO of Divine Inspiration Outreach, Inc. Board of Directors reports monthly to BOD. The Program Coordinator manages the budget, files bills for payment, writes grants, organizes fundraising events, and is the primary contact with media.

The Program Coordinator is also the primary Burfoot House contact with Centerville Baptist Church leadership and partner organizations: Chesapeake Regional Hospital Transitional Care Program, Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Health, The Planning Council, SVHC-Southeastern Virginia Homeless Coalition (3 VP), City of Chesapeake Human Services. They are the direct Supervisor for Resident Assistant, Case Manager, and Assistant Director.

The Program Coordinator also handles potential client intake assessments (shared with the Assistant Director) and possible client interviews (shared with the Assistant Director). They coordinate Christian Base classes/teacher assignments and certification opportunities.

As a progressive thinker, I am committed to serving the Chesapeake community as the CEO of Divine Inspiration Outreach, Inc., a non-profit organization, and the Burfoot House Homeless Shelter for single women. I champion organizations committed to innovation, change, and solutions for those in need. Our commitment to these values inspires hope for a better future.

Ronny’s professional and spiritual affiliations include Chairing CNRMA’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, the Virginia Beach Branch of the NAACP, Lifetime Member/Regional Vice President of Blacks In Government, Ordained Deacon at Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church (affectionately known as The Mount), and Spiritual and Character Chair of the Chesapeake Council PTA. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Divine Inspiration Outreach, Inc.

Susan Burton: Advisory Board Burfoot House Ministries I currently facilitate a Life Skills class for ladies residing at Burfoot House. I have 10 years of experience as director of the Chesapeake Area Shelter Team (CAST) for Centerville Baptist Church. I am a deacon and team leader for our Fellowship Team and our Women’s Ministry. I enjoy our ladies’ Bible study and participating in a global INTEGER group through Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

Ron Burton: Treasurer Burfoot House Ministries Board I’ve enjoyed being a volunteer with the Chesapeake Area Shelter Team (CAST Ministry) for the past 10 years. Additionally, I’ve volunteered as a Youth Leader at Centerville Baptist Church, served as a Deacon, and continue to work with various ministries. I look forward to working with Burfoot House Ministry and Divine Inspiration Outreach to see the blessings the Lord has in store for this Ministry.

James Hinton, Jr is Vice President -Community Development for Dollar Bank, FSB.  He has over 44 years of banking experience.  In addition to the Burfoot House, James also serves on numerous Boards in the Hampton Roads community.

Ari Cuffee

Graduated from TALLWOOD high school in June 2000 and immediately started the RN program at NSU in August 2000 with a newborn. Was accepted in the NSU Nursing Scholars Program (only 10 students from high school were selected for this) taking prerequisites and nursing courses together. She also worked as a CNA at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital while in nursing school. Graduated with her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2003, from NSU. Graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2010. Graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University in 2015. She will graduate in 2024 with her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (Ph.D.) from Liberty University. She has worked in a variety of settings including cardiac step-down, medical-surgical units, progressive care units, and mother/baby. She is currently an RN Care Manager at the Department of Veteran Affairs and an adjunct Clinical Professor at NSU.

Dr. Nancy Welch

Dr. Welch has served as a public health director in Virginia since 1976. Currently, she is the Director of the Chesapeake Health Department. Over the years she has also served as the acting health director for the Western Tidewater Health District as needed. Her major professional focus is utilizing data analysis as a persuasive motivator for individuals and communities to actively engage in healthier lifestyle habits.

She received her B.S. at Lynchburg College, Degree in Medicine at Duke University and M.B.A. at Old Dominion University. Her Pediatric Residency and Masters of Health Administration were at the University of Colorado. She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Public Health/Preventive Medicine; Dr. Welch is also a Retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.She serves on a variety of boards and committees developing community programs that enhancethe health status and quality of life for our citizens.

She has received numerous awards of distinction, such as the Lynchburg College Distinguished Alumni Award and Richard A. Thornton Award for Excellence. She is a member of the Delta Omega Society, Alpha Kappa Chapter (honor society for public health) and the Delta Kappa Gamma, Omega Chapter (key women educators). She received the Hampton Roads YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Medicine in 2012 and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Marian P. Whitehurst Women in Leadership Award in 2013. She was conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctorate in Science from Lynchburg College in 2014. In 2020 she received the Woman of the Year award from the Women’s Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and in 2023 Dr. Welch was selected as the First Citizen of Chesapeake.

Dr. Welch’s book, “Healing Emotional Wounds—A Story of Overcoming the Long Hard Road to Recovery from Abuse and Abandonment,” was recently published and is available in bookstores and at Amazon.com. It chronicles the story of her adoption of two Ukrainian children and their struggles to overcome emotional and behavioral challenges.
